United Nations officials visit the Global Geographic Information Management and Technical Cooperation Exchange

On the afternoon of May 1, Gregory Scott, an official of the Department of Statistics of the United Nations Economic and Social Services, visited the Global Geography Information Management and Technical Cooperation Exchange in our county. Chen Jianguo, Secretary for Surveying and Mapping and Geography Information of the former Province, and Wang Qinying, Ao Yuxin, Shen Zhiwei and Cao Genrong attended. 

At the symposium, Gregory Scott began by congratulating and thanking our county for successfully hosting the United Nations Conference on World Geographic Information. He said that recently, the Ministry of Natural Resources and the United Nations signed a memorandum of intent in Beijing, clear will be set up in the Deqing United Nations Global Geography Information Management and Technical Cooperation Exchange Agency, which expressed the strong will to speed up cooperation between the two sides. Gregory Scott is confident that the establishment of the organization, he hopes that the Deqing County Committee, the county government as always to give the greatest care and support, to provide better services. Next, the United Nations will begin to draft relevant documents, as soon as possible to determine the function of the operation of the agency, administrative framework, site protection and other details, jointly promote the establishment of a geographic information field policy communication, industrial cooperation, academic exchanges and other multi-level, integrated platform, and constantly improve the world countries, especially developing countries to promote sustainable development capacity. 

  Wang Qinying, secretary of the county party committee, said the signing of the memorandum of intent was a milestone, marking the official launch of the United Nations preparations for the establishment of the United Nations Global Geography Information Management and Technical Cooperation Exchange in Deqing. The next step will be to seize important historical opportunities, fully enhance the executive capacity and give full play to the initiative, cooperate fully with the United Nations and the Ministry of Natural Resources to do a good job in service guarantee, and actively promote the establishment of this institution in Deqing, with the high attention of the provincial, provincial and municipal governments, correct leadership and full support of the Provincial Department of Natural Resources. 

  Before the meeting, Gregory Scott and his team also visited the Deqing International Conference Center, the Geo-Information Science and Technology Museum, talent apartments and other places, and visited the office site.
