Our next destination may be a little mysterious – Ground Receiving Station for Remote Sensing Satellites. You might wonder what it is for. Actually it is a ground station designed to track, receive, record and process the data from remote sensing satellites. Topping the National Remote-Sensing Building in Deqing’s G-Town, Deqing Ground Receiving Station for Remote Sensing Satellites is now directly receiving and processing the date from the radar satellite RADARSAT-2, as the first remote sensing satellite receiving ground station initiated by a private enterprise for independent operation and management. Supported by the Ground Receiving Station, the world leading RADARSAT-2 has been hugely improved for faster, more convenient, more efficient data service of radar satellite sensing. So far, the Station has reached partnership with the National Satellite Ocean Application Center, North China Sea Forecast Service, South China Sea Forecast Service, Second Institute of Oceanography and Zhejiang Institute of Surveying and Mapping on projects related to marine oil spill, typhoon and ground subsidence monitoring. Remote sensing data is also of great social significance, as it can also be applied to urban water pollution monitoring.
